F - 3 Access To Performance Payment

Access to Performance Payment


A Clinical Academic may, subject to the provisions of this clause be paid an amount equal to the difference between Level 22 and Level 23 of the relevant pay schedule detailed in the WA Government Health Industry Medical Officers and Medical Practitioners Agreement 1996, as a performance payment. The relevant pay schedule shall be C2 for persons exercising rights to private practice under clause 6.1 or C3 for persons exercising rights to private practice under clause 6.2.

This performance payment shall be conditional upon achievement of and maintenance of the following:

(i) the clinical academic must apply to the Teaching Hospital for this performance payment, and

(ii) the clinical academic has completed 13 years of experience gained in a recognised specialist appointment in Western Australia or in a relevant specialist appointment elsewhere which is recognised by the University and the Teaching Hospital, and

(iii) the relevant medical college must certify that the applicant has successfully complied with the maintenance of professional standards (MOPS) or equivalent and satisfied the electoral committee; and

(iv) the Teaching Hospital, having given due consideration to the application, the evidence of the medical college and all aspects of the performance of the medical practitioner including compliance with performance standards operative within the Hospital, agrees to this payment.

(v) This payment is subject to annual review and shall be discontinued by the Teaching Hospital if professional standards are not maintained in accordance with medical college requirements or the performance of the medical practitioner is not maintained to the standard required at this level. In determining this it shall be required that the performance standards operative within the hospital are met and that the specific commitments under Clause 3.2 of this agreement and principally paragraphs (e), (i), (j), (k), (l), (m), (n), (o) and (p) have been adhered to.
