F - 1 Academic Clinical Agreement Preamble

Preamble

This agreement provides for salary supplementation of medically qualified academics with clinical privileges in WA teaching hospitals, to achieve 'in principle' broad parity of salary rates with those of specialists employed in Teaching Hospitals in the WA Government Health Industry.

The salary rates contained in the WA Government Health Industry Medical Officers and Medical Practitioners Agreement 1996 are to be discounted at all levels by $645 per annum for the period 1 January 1996 - 30 June 1996, $664 per annum from 1 July 1996 - 31 December 1996 and $677 per annum thereafter, in recognition that annual leave loading is already paid by The University of WA and this amount has been annualised into the hospital salary rates.

The University of Western Australia, the Teaching Hospitals and the Australian Medical Association agree to review the operation of this agreement and the findings of this review may be used in the negotiation of any new agreement.

The parties to this agreement acknowledge that in any renegotiation, the effects of enterprise bargaining concerning terms and conditions of employment at the University or the Teaching Hospitals may need to be factored into any future adjustments to salary supplementation.

The parties agree to implement any necessary procedures and standards required by this agreement by 1 February 1997.

The parties agree to consult with each other on award, enterprise bargaining and workplace bargaining negotiations so that the impact of such negotiations on this Agreement can be determined at the earliest practicable opportunity.

For the purpose of this agreement, all reference to Teaching Hospitals includes a reference to the Agency known as PathCentre.
