Sikhism was founded over 500 years ago and is currently ranked as the world’s 9th largest religion, with 23 million followers.

Sikhism is open to all and preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times. Sikhs follow the writings and teachings of the Ten Sikh Gurus enshrined in the Sikh Holy Book and Living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib. The word ‘Sikh’ in the Punjabi language means ‘disciple’ and the term ‘Guru’ in Sikhism is defined as the Light that dispels all darkness and is in union with Divine. The key festivals are Visakhi (birth of the Khalsa Order) and the birthdays of the first (Guru Nanak) and last living Guru (Guru Gobind Singh).
