Life Balance Categories

UWA takes a ‘whole of life’ approach to Life Balance. The University recognises that during the course of their employment, staff members will undergo many changes in their lives, of which, for many, having children is only one. Some may leave the workforce for a time, utilising, for example, parental leave, and then undertake a graduated return to work. Others may choose to study or travel, still others may need to adopt flexible working practices to accommodate eldercare, and some may seek to phase into retirement.

The University’s flexible work and leave options have been grouped into Life Balance Categories aligned with the main phases and/or types of commitments which may be paramount at different stages in a person’s working life.
