I am having difficulty accessing the website…
- The University uses MySource for its website and web pages. If you are on campus and have internet access to the University’s systems you will be able to view www.hr.uwa.edu.au/hr/jobs.
- MySource works best if you have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0+, Firefox 2.0, Netscape 7.1, Mozilla 5.0, Safari or Opera 7.0x. The application package or other web material may be large files. Try clearing your temporary inet files on your PC to improve memory capacity or review your Pop-Up setting to remove restricted access. If you continue to have difficulty with accessing the UWA website alternative points of contact are provided:
- For the UWA website, telephone the Web Office (08) 6488 7296.
- To request an information package for an advertised position telephone the Human Resources hotline (08) 6488 3733 and follow the prompts.
- If you have not received your information package by mail by the due date, telephone HR Assistant (08) 6488 7893.

Are my qualifications gained overseas recognised in Australia?
Do I need a medical examination?
- Medical examinations maybe required by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, refer to http://www.dimia.gov.au/
- Routine medical examinations are not required by the University. However, you are required to complete a questionnaire about your capacity to undertake the duties. This will be included in your appointment information package. A workplace assessment may be conducted for some work requirements.

Can I be considered for other career opportunities?
- Yes there two methods for external applicants:
- Refer to the application details in the advertised position. Complete the details and return with your application or
- Refer to the Candidate Register (in development)
- As a staff member you can access the mobility programme
Can I apply for more than advertised position?
- Yes you can. You will need to submit a separate application for each advertised position.
Can I submit an unsolicited application?
- Yes, refer to the Candidate Register (in development).
- Address the covering letter “To Whom it May Concern” or “Dear Sir or Madam”.
Where can I obtain assistance in completing my application?

What can delay my application?
- Incomplete or insufficient information, for example, no reference (Ref) number, not including attachments or applicant details not completed.
- Incompatible browser to the platforms used by the University.
What can I do to ensure my application is processed on time?

How long will it take to process my application and when will I be notified?
- Your application is received and tracked in a database.
- If you have emailed your application, you will receive an auto-reply.
- If you have completed the acknowledgement slip with a paper-based application, you will receive mail notification within 5 working days?
- Once the advertising closing date has occurred, the recruiting area will collect applications. The Selection Committee will then meet to review the applications and contact short-listed applicants to arrange an interview and or other selection processes. The timeframe will depend upon the number of applicants, the selection processes and the availability of the Selection Committee members. Expect the process to take usually 2 weeks.

When will I know if I have been successful?
- The Selection Committee or a representative will contact you to keep you informed of the process and if you have been successful. Expect the process to be completed within 4 weeks after the application closing date.
- Unsuccessful applicants will be contacted by mail.
- If you have not received notification by the second week, telephone the contact person in the advertisement.
Where can I get feedback on my application?
- The contact person nominated in the advertisement can provide assistance with the process.
- A member of the Selection Committee will be able to provide you feedback on your performance on completion of the selection process.
I need special access or adjustments to the workplace…
- Advise the contact person nominated in the advertisement and discuss your requirements, such as wheelchair access and facilities.
- Refer to Special Parking Arrangements to access disabled parking bays and view the campus map.
- Refer to support available prior to appointment Selected Applicant on Rehabilitation or Workers’ Compensation.
When would I need to start in the new position?
- Discuss your availability and the expectations of the workplace with the Selection Committee at the interview.
What can I expect when I start at UWA?
- Before you commence employment you will receive an offer of employment, information on the available staff benefits, services and facilities, and employment details. Complete these details and return them to Human Resources to obtain your benefits, gain access to the University systems, and start your position as smoothly as possible.
- When you start, your manager or supervisor will commence a staff induction programme. This is designed to get you acquainted with your peers and colleagues, your workplace, immediate services and facilities, and the work you will undertake.
- The University has information and an Orientation Day, see staff induction and orientation for research, and teaching staff.
- You will have a probationary period to receiving confirmation of your appointment. Your manager or supervisor will discuss what you need to achieve to successfully complete your probationary period.
- Discuss your development needs with your manager or supervisor to access research grants, any of the early career development programmes, or further study or career opportunities.
