Where can I find the guidelines for an Academic Portfolio (Tenure)?

How many copies of an Academic Portfolio (Tenure) do I need to provide?

  • Nine copies. One for each member of the Academic Promotions Committee and one copy which remains on file. The Academic Portfolio format for a tenure application is exactly the same as for promotion and can be the base on which to submit an application for promotion at a later date. The Head of School and Dean of Faculty add comments to the tenure application which you sight and sign off on in the normal way as for a promotion application.

I currently occupy a tenurable appointment with the University and submit annual activities reports (Academic Portfolio, Tenure). I have not completed my probationary period but understand that should I be successful in my bid for promotion, my appointment will automatically be converted to tenured, not subject to review. Is this correct?

  • Yes, it is University policy for an automatic conversion of appointment on successful promotion and you will be notified of this change in status at the time of promotion. Please note that tenured status does not preclude you from Professional Development Review which is an entirely separate procedure administered through your School/Faculty. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Officer.
