Academic titles

A list of academic titles based on role.

UWA has a number of policies, procedures and guidelines covering academic titles and the roles and responsibilities of senior academics.

Teaching and research and research intensive titles
Academic titles at The University of Western Australia.
Adjunct and clinical academic titles
Recognising significant contributions to the activities of the University.
ARC and NHMRC Fellows
Titles which can be conferred on ARC and NHMRC fellows.
Mid-career and Senior Fellows
Providing ongoing positions to employees who gain mid-career and senior fellowships.
Senior Honorary Fellow / Senior Honorary Research Fellow
Providing opportunities for retiring/retired academics to continue their work with benefits to their discipline and the University.
Honorary appointments
Recognising a formal association with the University which is considered advantageous to both the University and the appointee.
Visiting appointments
Recognising a formal association with the University which is considered advantageous to both the University and the appointee.
Emeritus Professor
Recognising professors who have provided long-standing service to the University.
Academic titles for Principal Investigators and Directors of Research Centres
The University's policy on the conferal of academic titles on research fellows from the Australia Research Council and the National Health and Medical Research Council.
Professorial Fellows

To make the existing career structure more flexible, and to create more options for recognising and rewarding its academic contributors, the University has introduced a category of academic staff entitled the Professorial Fellow.
